Creamy Crock Pot Chicken Noodle Soup

Today I'm sharing my favorite chicken noodle soup recipe over on my cousin Kacey's blog, Twenties on the Porch . This is definitely one of our go-to recipes in the fall/winter months. It's so easy and SO good! I had forgotten just how good it was until we dug into it last night. Go check it out and let me know if you try it and love it like we do! Beckett loved it so much that he didn't bother wasting time with a fork. :-P

Beckett - 17 Months

One thing I wish I’d done for myself is keep detailed monthly updates of Beckett. His baby book is virtually empty and I feel terrible admitting that I don’t have important milestones recorded. I’m pretty sure there is no excuse not to record everything for the first child. Thankfully I did at least take a picture each month for the first year, sometimes with a few highlights from the month to post on Instagram so I have those printed in my Chatbooks which makes me feel slightly better. Since I have this blog now and the point is really for me to document our lives so we have a place to look back on the memories, I think I will start keeping track of the month-to-month here. I haven’t done any sort of update since he turned 1 in April and though he had already been walking for a couple of months by then and saying a few words, I know there have been other milestones he’s reached in the last 5 months. Had his first real haircut at the barber shop and H.A.T.E.D it! He was in desperate ...

Friday Favorites

Woo hoo for Friday! This week has been rather long and boring so I'm ready for some weekend fun but first I'm sharing my Friday Favorites. Anyone with a baby knows how heavenly Dreft is. Now they have the in-wash scent boosters and they are 100% blissful! Joey may have "accidentally" used these on a couple loads of our laundry. ;-) It's just the best smell! We have also started making our own Fabreeze-like spray by mixing a few of these with water. We use it to spray down furniture and even spritz it on clothes when they need some freshening up. Try these.. even if you don't have a kid! I have a new love and his name is Jimmy Fallon. I've never really watched late night TV but after cracking up at so many videos of him I decided to start recording his show every night so I can watch it the next day. I think he is genuinely funny and watching his show has just been a good way to unwind in the evenings. The weather these days is definitely a favorite! The ai...

Weekend Recap

Another weekend has come and gone way too fast. It didn't feel like we did much this weekend but when I looked back on it, we actually did do quite a bit. Friday was the homecoming football game at Battle. Beckett and I missed out on the tailgate this week so when we got there we just hung out where some of the parents were selling merchandise until the game started. Homecoming looks so much different these days. When we were in school, we used to go all out decorating the stadium with signs and streamers and even painted sheets that were placed on top of the visiting team's locker room. This year = nothing. It's quite a shame that no one takes the time to do those things anymore. We took so much pride in supporting our team (even though we always lost, ha!). I was disappointed. Battle ended up winning which was great! Congrats to Coach Stone on his first Battle win! Saturday morning we got ready and just before we left the house Joey decided to turn on our Roomba upstairs ...

Where were you?

September 11, 2001. I was a sixth grader. I remember the day going something like this.. The morning was typical. I don't remember anything out of the ordinary until after lunch. We had a few minutes before our next class started after lunch each day so our teachers would usually walk us from the cafeteria to our classrooms where we’d watch Channel 1 news. On this particular day, our teachers told us that Channel 1 wasn’t on (weird to us but we didn’t question it) and took us outside to play for those few minutes. We were young and since this was before everyone had cell phones, we had no clue what was really going on or why they wouldn’t let us watch Channel 1. I can remember the sound of the intercom throughout the school what seemed like every 3 seconds for the rest of the day calling kids out of class because their parents where there to pick them up. I have no clue how our teachers were able to teach, or if they even tried, knowing what they knew and were keeping from us. Look...

Fall Family Fun

Since Beckett is able to enjoy new experiences with us, I thought it would be fun to make a list of things to do as a family this fall. We don’t really have any fall traditions so I’m hoping that as our family grows, we begin incorporating traditions into our seasons and holidays. Some of the things on my list are things that I want to do every fall but we’ve just never got around to it. It’s fun to see the world through toddler eyes and we love seeing his reactions to new things so I think there’s a good chance we’ll be checking off many of the things on the list this year. Visit a pumpkin patch Do a corn maze Carve pumpkins (OK, I hate carving pumpkins but Joey enjoys it so I’ll stick to painting mine) Have family pictures taken when the leaves are pretty Take a drive and enjoy the leaves along the Blue Ridge Parkway Watch an outdoor movie (weather permitting, this will happen this weekend) See a play at the Barter Theater (this is something Joey and I love to do togeth...

Top Three on Thursday

Today I thought I'd share my top 3 baby must haves. I have several friends who are pregnant right now and many of them have asked about things they must have, where to shop (specifically for boys because that can be tricky unless you want the tacky graphic tees that seem to grace the shelves of every boys section), and what to pack in their hospital bag (I've already sent the list I made when I was pregnant with Beckett to 3 people this week and they love it). I'll share more some other time and may eventually share the hospital bag list too because I've already had some people tell me I should just share it here. On to my must have list! My absolute favorite, favorite, favorite thing that I have is a Solly Baby wrap . I wish I had known about them sooner (I purchased mine when B was 7 weeks old) so I could have enjoyed it from the very beginning. It's an absolute life saver! Close contact between momma and baby is so important. Baby-wearing gives you the closeness...
